Phoenix Phantoms 35 - 27 TigersHarrogate District Netball League Division 2

It was Phantoms last game of 2010 and they were determined to finish the year on a high.

Unfortunately, they were playing Tigers who are currently second in the league and only a few points behind them. Tigers were there to threaten Phantoms unbeaten record. Sadly for them , Tigers could only field six players, giving Phantoms an advantage and we managed to hold on to our record and remain undefeated, beating them in a close game, 35-27.

Phantoms were off to a flying start with Hayley Waldridge (GA) and player of the match Laura Harris (GS) working well in the circle. Felicity O’Leary (WD) injured herself early on and was substituted for a very capable Tracey Horner. Phantoms finished the first quarter leading 12-4.

The second quarter saw Rebecca Waters (C) and Katie Ulett (WA), use their defence skills as well as great attacking but Tigers slightly shrunk the gap and Phantoms completed the second quarter 19-12. With a substitution to bring on Debbie Reed (C) Tigers fought hard and were determined to make us work, pushing Isobel Dean (GD) and D.Thomas (GK) to their limits. Despite fantastic efforts from the defence duo,

Tigers almost caught up and narrowed the gap, meaning Phantoms finished the third quarter only 4 goals up, 24-20. With a final burst of energy Phantoms closed the game, 35-27.

This leaves them 8 points clear at the top of the table, and with one game in hand over second place rivals Tigers.
