Phoenix Phantoms have won their first match of the new season, beating rivals Hawks 43-28.

They had a great start to the match, thanks to the efforts of shooters Katie Ulett, who was awarded player-of-the-match, and Alicia Lugg who later played goal keeper. They finished the first quarter with a 6 goal lead.

Felicity O’Leary was brought on as WA and Laura Harris as a shooter, they scored another 10 goals ending the second quarter 20-11. Centre Karen Hasse was substituted for one quarter in the third, for Captain Hayley Waldridge and Phantoms maintained a healthy 11 goal lead. The defence team did a fantastic job and took control of the game with many interceptions from Katie Puplett and Rachael Dodds.

Anne Handley played WD and worked well with the attack, sending the ball down the court. The new team are looking forward to working together and hope to achieve great things for the 2010-2011 season.
